Withdrawls...
OK everyone, I'm going through running withdrawls. I know I'm pregnant and all, but I'm now only running about once a week (VERY SLOWLY), and it's killing me. Seeing all these runners outside everyday in this beautiful weather is making me...well...a little depressed, I have to say. So, can someone post something about the new team members this year and who's doing what leg and who's in which van? I'd like to live vicariously through you for these next few months if I can. If I can't be there in person, I'd love to be there in spirit! :) (am I crazy, or what?!) Here's to running...

Comment, turned post
I didn't know if people checked the website, but I think if I do this as a new post instead of a comment it will get emailed and the chance of people getting it is better...maybe ? Anyway, just wanted to make sure you guys have our names down as paid. If only half the people have paid, that's not very many. I know Adrien, Bekah, Keri, and Tara have paid and I'm assuming the other 2 are Becca and Laurie. Is that right? Hope we can get registered!

Now is a great time...
Hey everyone! I was talking to Laurie this morning and she told me that she only has about half of the entry fees and she can't foot the bill for everyone. I was thinking that right now is a really great time to get a check to her so that we can register before the holidays leave us all broke! I can't even tell you how much I am looking forward to this race and I would be so bummed if we waited to long to register. And as a side note if anyone is interested in meeting in a central location for an easy 10 or so this Sat, leave a comment and we'll make a plan!

Dito!
I completely agree. I've loved reading everyone's different takes on the race (Adrien, Bekah, and Marie, I'm still waiting), and I think we all did amazing. You ladies are truly an inspiration and I feel honored to be part of this group. Watch out Ragnar 2009!

Strength Training
I was reading an article and thought you all might enjoy it! I know that we all want to become faster runners and they say that one of the best ways is to make sure to incorporate STRENGTH TRAINING. I am sure you all already knew that, but this link tells you five specific exercises that can help. http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-238-263-266-11273-0,00.html

Granola Recipe
Someone asked for the Granola Recipe before the race, but I am just getting to posting.
Granola Recipe
10-12 cups old fashioned rolled oats
1 cup wheat germ
1/2 lb. shredded coconut
2 cups raw sunflower seeds
1 cup sesame seeds (I don't put these in mine)
1 cup chopped almonds
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup chopped walnuts
Combine above ingredients in large bowl, set aside.
1 1/2 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cup water
1 1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup molasses
1 1/2 t. salt
2 t. cinnamon
1 T. vanilla
Combine above in medium saucepan. Heat until sugar dissolves; do not boil.
Pour syrup over dry ingredients. Stir until all is coated with syrup. Bake 300 degrees. I use 3-4 9x13 pans. Cook 20 minutes, stir and rotate pans, cook 20 minutes, stir and rotate, cook 20 minutes. The cooking time is really a personal preference. I like mine crunchy so I cook it longer, if you don't want it crunchy, shorten the cooking time. Let cool, add raisins or dried fruit if you prefer. Refrigerate.
